Green Bay Packers Quarterback: Jordan Love

We finally had the opportunity to see Jordan Love in action for some extended periods, and it was what should have been expected. There was some good, some questionable decisions made, and overall, a lot of room for improvement.

Against Kansas City, the Chiefs would blitz the heck out of Love, especially in the second half, and the Green Bay offense struggled to move the ball. Love finished the day 19 of 34 for 190 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

He would certainly struggle in that game, there is no denying that, but LaFleur didn’t do him many favors either. With the Chiefs sending constant pressure, there were few blitz-beaters drawn up and a lot of long-developing routes. Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon would also combine for only 20 carries–it should have been closer to 30.

In Week 18 against Detroit, Love would complete 10 of 17 passes for 134 yards and helped lead a second-half comeback. However, two late interceptions, one of which involved some really poor decision-making, ultimately led to a Packers’ loss.

Many are quick to judge Love after these two performances, but in the grand scheme of things, he has only 62 career pass attempts–we still don’t know who Love is going to become as a quarterback.

Looking ahead, areas that Love has to improve upon are his footwork, his decision-making, going through his progressions, and as LaFleur said on a few occasions, letting it rip. We don’t know what 2022 holds for Love, that’s dependent upon Rodgers, but if he is the Week 1 starter, fans should be ready for plenty of ups as well as downs.
