The Milwaukee Bucks are currently decimated at the guard position. Donte DiVincenzo is sidelined with an ankle injury while Grayson Allen, George Hill, Pat Connaughton, and most recently, Jrue Holiday are all in the NBA’s health and safety protocols.

So in order to provide some much-needed guard depth, the Bucks have signed guards Langston Galloway and Jeff Dowtin Jr. to a pair of 10-day hardship deals, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the two newest members of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Galloway has appeared in four games this season, all of which came recently with Brooklyn over the course of two 10-day hardship contracts that he had with the Nets. In those four games, Galloway averaged 14.5 minutes per contest with 3.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.

Galloway’s rookie year was during the 2014-2015 season and he has primarily come off the bench during his career. He’s taken a majority of his shot attempts from behind the arc, averaging 3.9 attempts per game from 3, compared to 1.5 attempts from 2.

Galloway has made 36.9 percent of his career 3-point attempts and averaged 8.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. His best season from 3 came in 2016-2017 when he made 39 percent of his 4.2 attempts per game.

Dowtin was the other addition, and like Galloway, he plays guard as well. Dowtin is in his first NBA season after going undrafted out of Rhode Island in 2020. He spent a portion of last season in the G-League where he averaged 6.5 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assist off the bench for the Lakeland Magic.

This season, Dowtin has appeared in four NBA games, playing on a two-way deal with Golden State. In those games, Dowtin totaled 28 minutes played and was 3/6 from the field, including 0/1 from deep, with seven rebounds and three assists. He has seen most of his playing time come with the Santa Cruz Warriors, appearing in 12 games while recording 17.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game.

Over his four years at Rhode Island, Dowtin started 114 of his 128 college games and averaged 11 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. He was a 36 percent 3-point shooter on 2.7 attempts per contest.

With the Milwaukee Bucks as thin as they are at the point guard position, as well as off the bench in general, we may see some minutes from each of these players over the next few games. But ultimately, these are most likely short-term moves to help the Bucks overcome several key absences.
