There are a bunch of unknowns about the MLB offseason with a new CBA needed to be negotiated after December 1st. However, the Milwaukee Brewers and other clubs are able to begin signing free agents until that date.

And if Milwaukee is going to swing for the fences (pun intended), here are eight free agents they should target before the stoppage in the offseason.

If the Milwaukee Brewers want to hit a home run this offseason, they should target any of these eight players in free agency.

Milwaukee Brewers best-case free agents to target: Brandon Belt, 1B

One of the Brewers’ biggest weaknesses in their current lineup is the lack of a true first baseman. Milwaukee was hoping Keston Hiura could take that role in 2021, but his extended slump rendered him unplayable. In his steed, they went with Daniel Vogelbach and Rowdy Tellez to varying degrees of success.

At 33-years-old, Brandon Belt’s best days are behind him and health was a real concern last season. However, he’s typically been durable throughout his career so hopefully, last year was a one-time deal. Belt would give Milwaukee a left-handed presence at first base and potentially allow him to work in a platoon with Hiura.

He currently has a qualifying offer from the Giants, but if he declines it in search of more money, the Brewers should pounce with a two-year offer.
