The Green Bay Packers have been battling injuries this season and their cornerback room, in particular, has taken a few hits.

As we all know, Jaire Alexander is on injured reserve for the time being, while Kevin King injured his shoulder in Sunday’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals. His status moving forward is unknown at this time.

This leaves Green Bay with Eric Stokes, Isaac Yiadom, Shemar Jean-Charles, Chandon Sullivan, Rasul Douglas, and on the practice squad, Kabion Ento as options at cornerback.

Stokes has performed well this season, receiving some high praise from Matt LaFleur on Monday. But there are certainly question marks and some inexperience on the depth chart after him—especially if King is going to miss more time.

So in an attempt to try to bolster the depth in the cornerback room, the Green Bay Packers are reportedly signing Quinton Dunbar to the practice squad.

Dunbar went undrafted in 2015 and spent his first five NFL seasons in Washington and the most recent 2020 season in Seattle.

Over his career, the 6’2” – 197 pound Dunbar has been targeted 239 times, allowing a completion rate of 61 percent at 12.7 yards per catch. He also has 10 interceptions, 27 pass breakups, and a passer rating when targeted or 84.7, according to PFF ($$).

It’s also worth mentioning that Dunbar was also PFF’s third highest-graded cornerback in 2019–helping to showcase what he is capable of.

During this past season, he appeared in six games for the Seahawks and surrendered a completion rate of 64 percent on 47 targets and 12.7 yards per catch. Dunbar would come away with one interception, two pass breakups, and a 101.5 passer rating.

Dunbar signed with Detroit this past offseason before he was cut in August. He also spent some time on the Arizona practice squad this year as well.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network also adds that there is a good chance that Dunbar could be elevated to the active roster rather quickly, given the Green Bay Packers’ need at the position.

Expectations shouldn’t be that we are going to see 2019 Quinton Dunbar in Green Bay, but he does add valuable experience and is someone who played at a high level not long ago at a very important position.
