Green Bay Packers Workout Former 3rd Round Pick & One Other
By Paul Bretl

It’s standard practice for NFL teams, including the Green Bay Packers, to workout players each week during the course of the season. Some will be signed, and most won’t.
The Green Bay Packers brought in two players for workouts on Monday.
According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, on Monday following the Packers win over Pittsburgh, they had two players in for workouts; Delano Hill and Justus Reed.
Hill is a safety and a former 2017 third-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks, where he spent his first four seasons. He has 750 career defensive snaps in primarily a backup role, according to PFF ($$), with a bulk of those snaps coming in 2018 and 2019.
During that span, the 6’1” – 216 pound Hill tallied four pressures, 56 total tackles, and allowed 21 receptions on 29 targets at 15.7 yards per catch. He has no interceptions and just one pass breakup.
A majority of Hill’s snaps came at free safety, but he also logged 170 snaps in the box and 68 in the slot. It’s also important to note that he has almost 700 special teams snaps—an important aspect for any fringe roster player.
At safety, the Green Bay Packers currently have Darnell Savage, Adrian Amos, Henry Black, and Vernon Scott on the active roster, along with Innis Gaines and Shawn Davis on the practice squad.

Reed is an edge rusher and a 2021 UDFA from Virginia Tech. The 6’3” – 253 pound Reed played six seasons of college football due to injuries—two of which were with Florida, three at Youngstown State, and his final year at Virginia Tech.
In his most recent season with the Hokies, Reed posted 31 pressures, seven sacks, and 19 total tackles, per PFF. He posted a RAS of 3.78 out of 10.
For more on Reed’s game, here is what Lance Zierlein of NFL.com had to say about him in his pre-draft report:
"“A graduate transfer from Youngstown State, Reed has been in college programs for the last seven seasons. He has a history of dealing with injuries, so the combination of his age and his durability are concerns. His activity level helps him as a pass rusher, but his attack isn’t as skilled as it needs to be in the pros and he lacks the burst to attack around the corner. He can chase and tackle from the back side but does little to impact the run when it’s coming downhill at him. He has an uphill battle to make a roster.”"
This summer, Reed spent time with Tennessee and Washington, seeing action in two preseason games with Washington while recording one pressure in just 17 snaps.
With Za’Darius Smith on IR for the foreseeable future, the Green Bay Packers are left with Preston Smith, Rashan Gary, Jonathan Garvin, Chauncey Rivers, and LaDarius Hamilton on the 53-man roster, and Tipa Galeai on the practice squad.
