Milwaukee Bucks Sign Justin Robinson to Final Two-Way Deal Spot

With rookie second-round pick Sandro Mamukelashvili occupying one of the Milwaukee Bucks two-way contracts, they did have an opening for that second two-spot. But that now belongs to Justin Robinson.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Milwaukee Bucks will reportedly sign Robinson, a guard, to their final two-way contract.
Robinson went undrafted in 2019 after spending his college career at Virginia Tech, where he was a very experienced player, appearing in 125 games during that span. Robinson would average 11.1 points per game over his career, including a career-high of 14.0 as a junior.
He also logged 2.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.0 steal, and shot 38.5 percent from 3–including nearly hitting 42 percent of his 4.1 attempts per game as a senior.
Here is a snippet of Robinson’s draft profile from NBA.com; you can find the rest of it here.
"“Crafty shot creator with great vision and creativity as a passer who made the players around him better. Filled a significant role as the engine of Virginia Tech’s high-powered offense. Scored efficiently from the perimeter while propelling the Hokies with his passing out of ball screen actions and in the open floor.”"
NBA.com would also describe Robinson as a “pass-first guard,” a “prolific pick & roll threat,” as well as an “opportunistic finisher.”
In the NBA, Robinson has spent time with both Washington and Oklahoma City, but a majority of his playing time has come in the G-League. At the NBA level, he has appeared in 18 games, averaging 7.6 minutes per contest and recording 2.3 points per game, along with 0.8 rebounds, 1.0 assist, and 0.3 steals on 36.4 percent shooting overall and 36.8 percent from deep.
In this most recent G-Leauge season (2020-2021), the 6’1″ Robinson averaged 31.1 minutes of playing time in 13 games along with 15.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.7 steals. He would also hit 40 percent of his 5.8 three-point attempts each game.
This summer, Robinson was with the Los Angeles Lakers summer league team.
As far as Robinson’s potential role on this Milwaukee Bucks team, well, he’s once again likely to spend much of the season in the G-League. This roster is just too deep for him to earn any sort of consistent playing time–even if it isn’t that much. However, he does bolster the guard depth on this roster.
The Milwaukee Bucks now have just one roster spot available for training camp, which begins at the end of September. So there may be another addition in the not-so-distant future.
