Packers’ 53-man roster prediction after 1st preseason game vs Texans

Edge (4): Za’Darius Smith, Preston Smith, Rashan Gary, and Jonathan Garvin
This is fairly straightforward with Za’Darius Smith, Preston Smith and Rashan Gary all locks for the roster. There was competition (and maybe even a decision to make) between Jonathan Garvin and Randy Ramsey, but with Ramsey’s season-ending injury, the final edge spot is all Garvin’s.
Middle Linebackers (5): De’Vondre Campbell, Kamal Martin, Krys Barnes, Ty Summers, Oren Burks, and Isaiah McDuffie
With the Packers only keeping four edge players and the fact Za’Darius Smith hasn’t practiced yet, Oren Burks could provide some insurance both on the outside and at middle linebacker. He had the best preseason game of his life against the Texans, prompting me to add five middle backers to this roster.
Otherwise, De’Vondre Campbell, Kamal Martin and starter Krys Barnes are all locks. Ty Summers and Isaiah McDuffie make the roster due to their special team’s contributions.
