The third Green Bay Packers training camp practice is in the books and as Matt LaFleur told us before hand, today’s practice was going to be lighter but they were going to ramp things up on Saturday.

Once again, the Green Bay Packers beat reporters in attendance did an excellent job of keeping us up to date. Here is a quick look at what took place on Friday.

– Both Randall Cobb and Amari Rodgers were fielding punts during warmups. Cobb has had 11 combined punt return attempts over the last two seasons. In college, Rodgers averaged 7.8 yards per return.

– The 6’4” – 330 pound TJ Slaton getting some work in on the sled:

– There were a few players not in attendance today who had practiced the first two days: Marcedes Lewis (TE), Isaac Nauta (TE), and Simon Stepaniak (OL). For Lewis, this was likely just a vet rest day.

– The starting OL configuration remained the same with Jenkins at LT, Runyan at LG, Myers at C, Patrick at RG, and Turner at RT.

– As expected, Love has been primarily been taking reps with the second team with Rodgers back, but he did work with the first team at the end of practice.

– Yesterday when talking with the media, Aaron Jones discussed how he has been working hard with OC Nathaniel Hackett to refine his pass-catching abilities—specifically his route running.

– More of Jaire Alexander on Davante Adams during team drills—from the sounds of it, these battles are not disappointing either. Alexander was all over a double-move from Adams.

– It’s a very important camp for Dexter Williams and he continues to make some plays each day, including as a pass-catcher, an area that he’s struggled with in the past.

– A quote from Packer Report’s Andy Herman on TE Jace Sternberger: “Sternberger’s overall game still needs work but he can still get open and has some juice after the catch.”

Rodgers and Adams continue to connect on the deep ball. Even with sticky coverage, Rodgers fits the ball in and Adams is just too smooth.

– Someone has to try and take over for Jamaal Williams now that he’s in Detroit.

– The newly signed Dennis Kelly had some work with the 1s today. He will likely fill Rick Wagner’s role as the team’s swing tackle.

– Billy Turner saw some reps at left tackle as Matt LaFleur tries to find his best starting five configuration without David Bakhtiari.

– In a red zone drill, Eric Stokes had his “welcome to the NFL” moment while covering Adams, who made an effortless touchdown grab.

– Elgton Jenkins continues to do Elgton Jenkins things, holding off Rashan Gary on a pass-rush attempt.

– Rodgers appears to have no rust whatsoever while Jordan Love continues to attack the middle of the field, an area that this Green Bay offense has had success in.

Alexander did exit today’s practice to spend time with a trainer but he did return.

– It’s only been three practices, but Amari Rodgers has had a solid camp so far. You can really see that playmaking ability with the ball in his hands.
