Whether it be during practices, preseason games, or eventually during the regular season, it’s always fun to watch the Green Bay Packers’ star players in action. But for me, this time of the year is about which role players can take their game to another level and which under-the-radar players come out of nowhere to surprise us all.

With training camp now just days away, here is a look at seven Green Bay Packers players who won’t be talked about a lot but could make some noise this summer.

Juwann Winfree – WR

Depending on if the Green Bay Packers keep five or six receivers, they will likely have one or two roster spots up for grabs. Green Bay signed the former 2019 sixth-round pick to the practice squad last season. Winfree has minimal regular-season experience with just 22 career snaps and no targets, but he could be an immediate help on special teams–something that is crucial to any back-end of the roster player.

While it was only mini-camp, Winfree “stood out,” according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, hauling in a 50-yard touchdown pass and another for 30 yards. Rob Demovsky of ESPN would also add that Winfree just “found ways to get open often.” If he can build upon that performance this summer and couple that with his special teams abilities, then Winfree could be a darkhorse candidate to make the final roster.
