As the Milwaukee Brewers enter the All-Star break, they sit atop of the NL Central with a record of 53-39.

Even though the first half of the season ended on a sour note with two straight series losses to the Mets and Reds, the Brewers had a successful pre-All-Star break. But before the late season playoff push begins, let’s take a look at how the Milwaukee Brewers position players have performed thus far.

As it is virtually impossible to give a grade to all the position players that have made an appearance this year, I will give grades to all current Milwaukee Brewers who have received substantial playing time.

Catchers

Omar Narvaez – A

After a disappointing shortened 2020 season, Omar Narvaez has had a great bounce-back performance this year that has earned him the honor of being an All-Star replacement. He is hitting .300 with a .396 OBP, both of which would be career highs over a full season. Narvaez has also been steady defensively along with successfully managing the Brewers pitching staff.

Manny Piña – D

2021 has been a struggle for Manny Piña at the plate so far. Piña is hitting just .132 with an OPS of .578. Part of Piña’s offensive struggles could be caused by reduced at-bats due to Narvaez’s success. Piña is saved from an F due to his always reliable defensive skillset.
