Members of the 2022 class have been committing left and right to the Wisconsin Football program over the last week. But just a few days ago, the Badgers landed their highest-rated commitment from the 2022 class in offensive lineman Joe Brunner from Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin.

The 6’6” – 300 pound Brunner is a 4-star recruit, and according to 247Sports Composite rankings, he is the 55th rated player nationally, the seventh rated offensive tackle, and the top player from the state of Wisconsin.

In addition to the Badgers, Brunner had 18 other offers, some of which included LSU, Penn State, and Michigan, but his decision really came down to Wisconsin along with Ohio State and Notre Dame. In addition to defensive lineman Curtis Neal, this is the second recruit from the 2022 class that has chosen the Badgers over the Buckeyes.

According to Evan Flood of Badger247, Brunner is the seventh highest-rated recruit in program history and is now one of seven offensive line recruits with a four or five-star rating to join the program in just the last three years. Further cementing the Wisconsin Football program as an OL Factory.

For more on Brunner’s game, here is what Allen Trieu, a national recruiting analyst for 247Sports, had to say about the Wisconsin native in his scouting report:

"“Tough, rugged offensive lineman who finishes his blocks. Gets off the ball well at his size and also shows some twitch. Runs well and gets downfield to make blocks easily. Plays with good balance and keeps his feet when drive blocking. We do not currently have verified height and length on him, but looks like a right tackle at the moment. Run blocking is more his forte right now. Will need additional reps and technical polishing in pass protection. Also has years of basketball experience. The way he plays and his lineman mentality should make him a safe bet to be a successful college lineman who can be a multi-year starter.”"

With 10 hard commitments, the Badgers’ 2022 class now ranks 32nd nationally and 8th in the Big Ten, according to 247Sports, and with more commitments certainly to follow.

When it comes to recruiting, the Wisconsin Football program has put a wall up around the state of Wisconsin as they continue to consistently land the top in-state recruits, with Brunner being the most recent example. Carson Hinzman, Isaac Hamm, and Billy Schrauth are the three top remaining recruits from Wisconsin who are uncommitted at this time.

"“The second I stepped on campus, I kinda knew. I fell in love with it,” Brunner told Badger247. “If you’re an offensive lineman, you cannot go wrong in Madison…at all.”"
