Things have really begun heating up on the recruiting trail for the Wisconsin Football program. Over the weekend, they received a commitment from offensive lineman Barrett Nelson. Then on Monday morning, another from tight end JT Seagreaves.

But the Badgers weren’t done, as on Monday evening, they’d receive two more commitments, one from 3-star athlete Cade Yacamelli and the other from 3-star cornerback A’Kouhry Lyde.

The 6’0” – 195-pound Yacamelli from Harrison City, Pennsylvania, is the 80th ranked athlete in the 2022 class and the 21st ranked player in his home state. He had offers from Air Force, Army, Dartmouth, and Columbia, among others, but Wisconsin was his first Power 5 offer, which he received after attending a camp earlier this month.

Where Yacamelli will fit on this Badger squad remains to be seen, but as Evan Flood of Badger247 notes, he currently does a little bit of everything for his high school team, playing quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and safety. During his junior season, Yacamelli tallied over 1,200 all-purpose yards and 12 touchdowns.

Flood would go on to say that Wisconsin needs to get Yacamelli “around the football” and that he likes him as a third-down running back or as a free safety.

When it comes to Lyde, as a cover corner, we know exactly where he is going to fit into this Wisconsin defense. Lyde stands 5’10,” weighs 170 pounds, and is from Wayne, New Jersey. He is the 110th ranked corner in this class by 247Sports and the 25th ranked player in the state of New Jersey.

In addition to his scholarship offer from the Badgers, Lyde had 16 others, some of which included Michigan State, Maryland, Indiana, Pitt, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.

Below, Flood gives his thoughts on Lyde’s game and where he potentially fits in this Wisconsin defense:

"“Sounds like Lyde is going to be a perimeter cover specialist for Wisconsin. Lyde is a little undersized right now and needs to add weight, but he’s got strong ball skills, break, and ability to high point the football. Lyde looks really good in zone, often baiting quarterbacks to throw elsewhere before leaving his man and undercutting another route. Last season, Lyde had four interceptions and seven pass breakups in just six games.”"

The additions of Yacamelli and Lyde brings the Wisconsin 2022 recruiting class up to five commitments with the aforementioned Nelson and Seagreaves, along with quarterback Myles Burkett. Surely, there will be more to come in the near future as these commitments oftentimes come in bunches.
