Things are starting to heat up now on the recruiting trail for the Wisconsin Football program. For the longest time, quarterback Myles Burkett was the only commitment for the 2022 class. But over the weekend, offensive lineman Barrett Nelson would commit, and most recently, tight end JT Seagreaves after taking his official visit.

As noted by Badger247, Seagreaves was “barely on the radar” of the Wisconsin coaching staff prior to attending a camp on June 5th. However, he would quickly receive a scholarship offer less than a week later after impressing head coach Paul Chryst and tight ends coach Mickey Turner.

The 6’5” – 220 pound 3-star tight end is from nearby Monroe, Wisconsin, and according to 247Sports, Seagreaves is the 84th ranked tight end in the country, and the 14th ranked player in Wisconsin.

Seagreaves also had a scholarship offer from Illinois State, as well as interest from North Dakota and Minnesota, but that list of schools was growing.

As Evan Flood would mention in a recent article, there is some unknown when it comes to Seagreaves. There is limited tape on him, and he comes from a run-first offense at Monroe High School. However, Flood also refers to Seagreaves as a “ball of clay” with good size, experience lining up out wide, and athleticism from his basketball background—two things that likely left coach Chryst and Co. very intrigued.

The current Wisconsin tight end room is led by Jake Ferguson, who is back for one more season, but it is an otherwise relatively inexperienced group, with five of the eight players on the roster either freshmen or sophomores this season. Not to mention that the seven tight ends on the roster not named Ferguson have combined for just two catches.

The Badgers were host to a number of recruits earlier this month who were taking their official visits. Seagreaves is now the third member of the 2022 class, but more should follow in the near future.
