With the 2021 NFL Draft taking place in just about three weeks, teams are putting the final touches on the preparations and finalizing their Big Boards. The Green Bay Packers have worked hard to bring back as many players as possible from a season ago and keep their draft plans wide open by taking a best player available approach.

Sure, they have needs at places like cornerback and defensive line that they should address at some point in the draft. However, they’re also in a position to target their highest-rated player and add the most talent possible with each selection.

For this exercise, I took a look at five recent mock drafts completed by experts across the internet and ranked the five players they picked for the Packers at 29th overall from worst to best. The experts were Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay of ESPN, PFF, Sporting News’ Vinnie Lyer and NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah. Let’s dive right in!

Let’s rank the five most realistic targets for the Green Bay Packers at no. 29 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Ranking Packers realistic draft targets: Jamin Davis, ILB, Kentucky

Kicking us off is Jamin Davis, the inside linebacker out of Kentucky. Davis was mocked to the Packers by McShay and there are few players I’d like less at this point in the draft. Although Davis has the athleticism general manager Brian Gutekunst likes, he’s only had one solid year in college. He’s a major liability in coverage (something that will give Packers’ fans nightmares) and gets shoved back by blockers too easily. The potential is certainly there, but there are a lot more polished players available at the back end of the first round.
