One of the Green Bay Packers‘ top needs heading into the 2021 offseason is at the defensive line. They’ve struggled upfront in consecutive seasons now, and it has been very difficult for them to get any consistently positive production out of anyone not named Kenny Clark. Could they turn to free agency to help bolster the position?

Clark was the only defensive lineman on the roster to post a PFF grade above 70 for the season with Tyler Lancaster and Dean Lowry–two rotational players who have failed to fulfill their roles over the last two seasons–struggling mightily once again. The latter could be a cap casualty, as the Packers could release him to save $3.3 million on the dropping salary cap.

Also from this series:

Although Kingsley Keke’s return from injury next year could provide a boost, the Packers might dip their toe into the free agency pool and try out one of these veteran players on the market.

The Green Bay Packers could target any of these three defensive linemen in free agency to bolster the position for the 2021 season.

Defensive lineman Packers should target in free agency: Larry Ogunjobi

Many fans may not have heard of Larry Ogunjobi, but he has the potential to be a serviceable rotational player for his next team. Although he’s coming off his worst season as a pro, he’s only 26-years-old and he’s proven to be a capable run-stopper in the past with the Cleveland Browns. He’s also racked up 17 sacks and 61 hurries in the last three years, proving he can do a little bit of both. That’s exactly what the Packers need upfront.
