Wade Phillips

This is likely one of the fan-favorite picks, as Wade Phillips is chomping at the bit to get back into the game. He’s been an elite defensive coordinator throughout his career in the NFL and it’s a bit odd as to why he isn’t currently employed in that role. LaFleur and Phillips worked together for one year with the Los Angeles Rams so that connection is there. However, at 74-years-old, age might play a factor in this decision.

Marvin Lewis

Another former head coach, Marvin Lewis is well respected by his peers in the NFL. He was the longtime defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens before taking over as the head coach for the Cincinnati Bengals. He’s a big name and would be an interesting candidate.
