PFF’s 5 highest graded Packers in Week 15 win over Panthers
These five members of the Green Bay Packers received the highest grade from Pro Football Focus in their victory over the Carolina Panthers.
It wasn’t pretty, but the Green Bay Packers eventually got the job done against the Carolina Panthers and won their 11th game of the season. That mark moved them into sole possession of first place in the NFC following the New Orleans Saints loss on Sunday.
Although the Packers have somethings to clean up–especially with a tough game against the Tennessee Titans looming this weekend–these five players had standout performances for the Green and Gold.
5. Kenny Clark: 85.8
It’s no surprise that Kenny Clark, one of the best interior defensive linemen in the NFL, posted a solid grade against the Panthers. However, Clark actually did most of his work in the pass rush department where he recorded a massive five hurries. Interior pressure on a quarterback completely disrupts the game even if it doesn’t result in direct sacks for Clark. The Packers need Clark to be at his best once again on Sunday.
4. Krys Barnes: 87.4
Speaking of Sunday, Krys Barnes projects to have a major role in trying to slow down the superhuman Derrick Henry. Barnes received more playing time against the Panthers in what could be a changing of the guard at inside linebacker. And he responded beautifully, recording five tackles and three stops. (We won’t mention his coverage skills which still need a lot of work).
3. Adrian Amos: 91.2
Adrian Amos is coming on strong at the perfect time and had his best game of the season against Carolina. He was all over the field, recording one sack, six tackles, three stops and a couple of pass breakups. He’s playing at another level right now and should’ve been rewarded with a trip to the Pro Bowl as a result.
2. Chandon Sullivan: 92.5
Chandon Sullivan was trending in the wrong direction before Saturday night’s game, but he was able to improve his coverage at least (he tied for a team-leading two missed tackles). Sullivan has been picked on in recent weeks by opposing quarterbacks, but had a strong showing in coverage this week. He was targeted four times and allowed two receptions, but he had good coverage on those receptions as well. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a trend.
1. Billy Turner: 92.6
On an offensive line the features two Pro Bowlers in David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins, it was Billy Turner who stood out on Saturday. He held his own in pass-blocking, but was extremely dominant in the running game. Turner’s versatility to move all over the line has been extremely helpful, but his best position is clearly at right guard where he’s excelling for the Packers.
