Green Bay Packers at Lions: 3 Bold Predictions for Week 14
By Paul Bretl
Before the Green Bay Packers take on the Detroit Lions, here are three bold predictions for Sunday’s divisional matchup.
It’s a new week on the NFL calendar, which means it’s time for a few new bold predictions. After a brief hiatus, I made my return to the prediction game last week for the Green Bay Packers’ Week 13 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. Unfortunately, I was 0-3, but I was quite close on two of them. Let’s see if we can get on the board this week.
Usually, I’ll spread my predictions around; some offense, some defense, even some special teams every once in a while. But not this week. This week we are going all offense as I expect the Packers to put up some big points against a very bad Lions’ defense.
At least 100 yards and 2 touchdowns for Davante Adams
I’m running out of words to describe what Davante Adams is doing on the football field this season. He’s posted 1,029 receiving yards, 13 touchdowns, and he’s averaging over 100 yards per game. And oh yeah, he’s missed two and a half games as well. So looking ahead to this matchup with Detroit, I have no clue who in that Lions’ secondary is going to stop him.
Detroit doesn’t generate much pressure from their defensive front; in fact, they rank 28th in pressure rate, which means behind the best offensive line unit in the NFL, Aaron Rodgers should have plenty of time to pick this defense apart.
The Lions have also given up the fifth most explosive passing plays this season — which are passing plays of at least 20 yards — the 261.7 passing yards per game they give up is the sixth most, while Desmond Trufant is on IR and rookie Jeff Okudah has been ruled out for Sunday’s game. This is a recipe for another big day from Davante Adams.
