Green Bay Packers: 4 Matchups to Watch in Week 12
By Kenny Jilek
It’s Bears week at last as they come to Lambeau to face the Green Bay Packers, so what matchups are the most critical in coming away with a win?
Last week, the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts needed overtime to decide the winner, and the three important matchups I wrote about reflected that pretty well.
The first of those was Kenny Clark against Quenton Nelson. Clark got the best of Nelson for much of the day, getting into the backfield to disrupt the run. Clark also beat him on a pass rush for a sack, making this one a clear Packer win.
Second was Christian Kirksey vs. running back Nyheim Hines, focusing on his role in the passing game. Hines caught three balls for 31 yards.
, so not an overpowering day from the backfield, but a running back averaging double-digit yards per catch isn’t ideal, and there were other Colts’ receivers that caught passes underneath, beating Packers’ linebackers, including Kirksey. We’ll call this a slight Colts win.
Finally, was newly extended David Bakhtiari facing off against former All-Pro Justin Houston. When Houston was on Bak’s side of the line, he was shut down and didn’t do much. However, he did get a sack against Billy Turner, so while Bakhtiari got the best of him, Houston made an impact on the game, making it another slight win for the Colts.
This week, because it’s Bears week, I’ve got a bonus matchup for you for a total of four. So let’s get started.
