The Green Bay Packers suffered a tough road loss in Indianapolis. Here are some instant reactions and highlights from their performance.

The Green Bay Packers’ Week 11 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts was going to be one of their tougher tests this season. Coming into this game, the Colts’ defense was ranked top-5 in both scoring and DVOA, while the offense was trending in the right direction in recent weeks. On top of that, they boast a good special teams unit as well.

Despite a fast start by Green Bay and a 28-14 lead at halftime, the second half was much different. The offense went cold, and the defense couldn’t stop a thing. Somehow, the game ended up in overtime, but in a loss nonetheless. As always, here are my instant takeaways from what we saw along with some highlights, and in this case, some lowlights as well.

  • This was the first time since about halfway through the Green Bay Packers’ Week 2 matchup against Detroit that Davante Adams, Allen Lazard, and Aaron Jones were all on the field together.
  • It was reported Sunday morning that although Lazard was going to play, he was going to be used sparingly, and that’s what we saw.
  • There are clips like this every week, but Davante Adams’ release at the line of scrimmage just isn’t fair.

  • As they say, turnovers come in bunches. After coming away with two against the Niners, the Packers forced one against Jacksonville and two more Sunday in Indianapolis.
  • In case you were wondering, the Packers still can’t stop the run.
  • All Robert Tonyan does is find the end zone. Also, I felt like I needed to throw something positive in here.

  • It was a slow start to the season for Adrian Amos, but over the last few weeks, he has been playing exceptionally well.
  • Mike Pettine loves playing soft zone, but against a Colts team that loves the quick, easy passes, that’s not an ideal game plan. However, that’s what we saw a lot of. You have Jaire Alexander and Kevin King, trust your corners, and play closer to the line of scrimmage.
  • Preston Smith on Trey Burton; not ideal.
  • More issues on 3rd and 4th and one situations for the Green Bay Packers’ offense.
  • Christian Kirksey on Michael Pittman; also, not ideal.

  • Before half and into the third quarter, the Green Bay Packers’ defense let the Colts’ offense do exactly what they love to do; put together long drives. The Colts put together three 10-plus play drives that all ended in scores.
  • Yikes, JK Scott continues to have issues. And in a dome of all places.
  • The Green Bay Packers offense took 6 snaps in the third quarter. Six. Snaps.
  • When the Colts defense is facing a third and one, they sent a blitz. When the Packers’ defense is facing a third and one:
  • The defense certainly deserves blame, but the offense going three and out on both third-quarter possessions did not help things.
  • Poor punts, a fumble on a kick return, the Green Bay Packers’ special teams struck again.
  • On Indianapolis’ final drive of the 4th quarter, they literally did everything in their power to give Aaron Rodgers another chance. 5 holding penalties led to Green Bay getting the ball back with plenty of time.
  • What a throw by Aaron Rodgers and this has to be the biggest catch of MVS’ young career.

  • But as I’ve said all year, the ‘MVS Experience’ is a wild ride. After that big reception, he then fumbles in OT.
  • 4 brutal turnovers.
  • 7-3. A Sunday Night matchup with Chicago awaits the Packers next week.
