Don’t get too carried away with these overreactions following the Green Bay Packers’ Week 10 win over the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Green Bay Packers barely escaped the friendly confines of Lambeau Field with a victory over the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. In a contest that had the Packers favored by double-digits, it came down to the final possession and Green Bay was fortunate to escape with a 24-20 victory.

Now that the dust has settled we can be a bit more level-headed about the outcome of the game. Although it certainly wasn’t pretty or awe-inspiring there are a number of overreactions floating around out there about Green Bay. Let’s address three of them here and now.

The Packers are dead inside.

For the second time in as many games at Lambeau Field, the Packers showed little to no life, passion, or energy in the game. It happened in a Week 8 loss to the Minnesota Vikings and it happened again in a narrow victory over the Jags. As Jacksonville’s defense and special teams were running around, hooting and hollering and thoroughly enjoying themselves, Green Bay silently and somberly went back to the huddle after each play. It was evident one of those teams enjoyed playing on Sunday and it wasn’t the winning one. Matt LaFleur addressed it after the game and appears to be concerned about their lack of passion lately.

The Packers defense can’t even stop a dude named Luton.

Green Bay’s defense has taken its fair share of criticism over the year. And after a promising 2019 season which saw them take some steps forward, they appear to have fallen back to their old ways. The pass rush was supposed to be an area of strength this year, but they have yet to get it going. Meanwhile, the Jags scored enough points to keep this game close until the very end. However, upon further review, the defense did enough to win this game. They only gave up 13 points with seven of those coming after the Packers’ offense turned the ball over and Jacksonville took over at Green Bay’s 16-yard line. When it was all said and done, it wasn’t pretty but there’s still some hope for this defense.

Green Bay sucks at Lambeau Field.

With only the top seed in each conference earning a first-round bye this year, the competition is tighter than ever for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. After a number of games went their way over the past two weeks, the Packers currently stand in first place in the NFC. But do they even want it? The Packers don’t appear to be built as a cold-weather team and could fare better indoors or in better weather at stadiums that aren’t anywhere close to full capacity fan-wise.

Get real. Green Bay would love to stay in their own beds the entire week leading up to games, use the mystique of Lambeau Field to their advantage and make opposing teams earn victories on the road when the weather is the worst.
