Let’s ground ourselves with three reality checks after the Green Bay Packers’ Week 10 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Green Bay Packers were fortunate to escape Lambeau Field with a victory on Sunday afternoon when they hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars. Yet, here we are as they retained their position both atop the NFC North and the NFC with a 7-2 record.

After our instant takeaways have settled in for a minute, let’s take a longer look at what we learned from Sunday’s ugly contest. Here are three reality checks Green Bay must face moving forward.

Reality Check #3: Running the ball on second-and-long doesn’t work

Running the ball on second-and-10 or second-and-long, in general, is one of the least effective plays in the modern game. Somebody should tell head coach Matt LaFleur that, as he loves to hand the ball off to Aaron Jones or Jamaal Williams in these exact situations, and to little or no avail.

He continued this pattern against the Jaguars, handling the ball off on multiple occasions following an incomplete pass or short gain on first down. And it never worked. The Packers’ running backs constantly got stuffed, setting up third-and-long. LaFleur needs to implement some self-scouting and scrap this play all together.
