Snacks Harrison will NOT be signing with the Green Bay Packers

Snacks Harrison will not be visiting with the Green Bay Packers as he has reportedly signed with the Seattle Seahawks.
During Monday night’s matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Atlanta Falcons, Josina Anderson broke some news that fans were excited to hear. In addition to Damon “Snacks” Harrison meeting with the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday, he was also scheduled to come to Green Bay on Wednesday for a visit as well.
Now, there was always the possibility that Harrison would just sign with Seattle and never make his visit to Green Bay, and unfortunately, that is what happened. ESPN’s Adam Schefter just reported that Snacks is being signed to the Seattle practice squad.
For a number of years, Harrison has been one of the best run-stuffing defensive linemen in the game, and at 31-years-old, it’s hard to envision him not making some sort of positive impact here in Green Bay, at a position where the Packers could use the help.
Ross Uglem of Packer Report reported during the offseason that the Packers had offered Snacks a contract, but he chose to remain a free agent. Whether it be the Wisconsin cold, money, or any other possible reasons, during this entire process, it seemed like coming to Green Bay was never something Harrison wanted to do.
Through four weeks, the Green Bay Packers’ run defense has taken their lumps as expected. Although Green Bay is allowing only 105.8 rushing yards per game, which is the eighth-lowest total in the NFL, that stat doesn’t tell the whole story.
With the Packer offense giving the defense several multiple score leads to play with, the opponent just doesn’ have the ability to run the ball when trailing by double-digits. Thus the overall numbers don’t look so bad. But the 4.76 yards per carry that the defense allows ranks 25th and shows that opposing offenses are still running the ball efficiently.
If you’re looking for a silver lining, over the last two weeks, we’ve seen more flashes from Montravius Adams, Kingsley Keke is making his presence felt more consistently, while Tyler Lancaster is having a better season than last. In fact, Atlanta was held to only 3.4 yards per carry, and of course, Kenny Clark will be returning soon.
With that said, by no means should the expectations be that this becomes a dominant unit, however, they are trending in the right direction. They’ll just have to continue to doing so without Snacks Harrison.
