5 wide receivers Packers should target with Allen Lazard out indefinitely
With Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver Allen Lazard undergoing surgery on a core muscle, they should target these five players to replace him.
The Green Bay Packers have been rolling this season, racking up the most points and yards through three games than any other team in the NFL. Unfortunately, their newfound offensive success will be put to the test with the newly revealed injury to wide receiver Allen Lazard.
It was reported on Thursday that Lazard “underwent core injury surgery this week and is out indefinitely.” That’s an extremely tough blow considering he was coming off a career-best game in which he racked up six receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown. There’s also the lingering hamstring injury to Davante Adams.
If there was one position Green Bay couldn’t afford to lose a couple of players at it was wide receiver. They refused to draft one this year and their lone acquisition at the position, Devin Funchess, opted out of the season. That leaves only three currently healthy receivers on the roster in Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Darrish Shepherd and Malik Taylor.
Green Bay has already begun to bolster their position group by adding Caleb Scott and Juwann Winfree to their practice squad this week. They also have Reggie Begelton and Robert Foster on their practice squad. However, they’ll need a lot more help than that and should take a look at these five receivers to help replace Lazard.
