In week one against the Vikings, the Green Bay Packers won enough matchups to take the game. Here’s three more to watch in week two.

The best way to win a football game is to get players in winnable matchups and have them excel in those spots.  The Green Bay Packers had wins all over the field, especially the offensive side of the ball in week one, to put up 43 points and take a victory over the Vikings. They’ll try to replicate that in week two against the Detroit Lions.

The Lions are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Chicago Bears on a dropped touchdown pass by rookie D’Andre Swift on one of the final plays of the game. Now, they’re looking to even their record at 1-1 and avoid being irrelevant in the NFC North conversation early in the season again.

The Lions will have to do it without some of their top players as wide receiver Kenny Golladay is still injured, starting cornerback Desmond Trufant and starting guard Joe Dahl are all listed as out for Sunday’s game. The Packers have their share of injuries as well, most notably Kenny Clark, but they aren’t as weakened as the Lions.

With Trufant and Justin Coleman being out as well as corner Darryl Roberts not having had a full practice all week, could mean big things for Davante Adams, who will be an honorable mention this week as a matchup to watch. You should always be watching Davante Adams, and I wrote about why in last week’s installment of matchups. He feasts on weakened cornerback groups as we saw last week after the Vikings moved on from Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes, and Mackensie Alexander. His matchup this week could be number three overall pick Jeff Okudah, and that would be quite the tall task for Okudah. Good luck, rookie, and welcome to the NFL.
