These were the five biggest surprises from the Green Bay Packer’s initial 53-man roster following their end of training camp cuts on Saturday.

The Green Bay Packers set their initial 53-man roster on Saturday, as did the rest of the NFL, when roster cuts were due by 3 pm CT. In the coming days, there are sure to be a number of tweaks, possibly including adding any of these four players on waivers, as they prepare for Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Every year there are a number of surprise cuts. Mike Daniels, a stud defensive lineman during his heyday, is a recent example. The front office has a number of factors they consider every year which doesn’t always align with the public’s thinking. The Packers are also in the middle of a scheme shift, changing from a pass-heavy offense to one that focuses on running the ball.

Even though there weren’t any eye-popping cuts this year, here are five of the biggest surprises from this year’s training camp cuts.
