The Green Bay Packers’ best and worst-case scenario for every player on the roster series continues with the abundance of cornerbacks.

Brian Gutekunst and the Green Bay Packers’ front office have shown that they value quality cornerbacks and have used a lot of high draft capital on them in his short tenure as general manager. They used a first-round pick on Jaire Alexander and a second-round pick on Josh Jackson while Ted Thompson also spent a second-round pick on Kevin King. Those moves have paid off with Alexander and King when he’s stayed healthy, but Jackson has yet to make much of an impact.

Alexander and King will almost definitely be the starters on the outside this season, but there is still a competition to be had for the slot corner spot and other spots on the roster. For that, the Packers have seven corners other than King and Alexander, all 25 years old or younger, and just chomping at the bit to get that spot. With Tramon Williams still a free agent, it seems the Green Bay Packers are going to let the kids battle it out.

It’s not always clear exactly how many guys at each position will be kept, but there are so many moving parts behind the two starters that everyone has a shot at the roster, at least as a special teams piece. As a group, they are mostly typical cornerback builds, all 6’1″ or under, excluding Kevin King, who is 6’3″. All of them try to use their speed and quickness to mirror routes and recover if they get beat.

As always with this series, each player in the position group is put into one of three categories. For the cornerbacks, the first category is probable starters, including the slot corner, Jaire Alexander, Kevin King, and Chandon Sullivan. Next are the other four guys who have some NFL experience, and finally, the two undrafted rookies.
