One oddsmaker has the Green Bay Packers as the favorite to land Antonio Brown. However, I don’t see that happening at all.

Green Bay Packers’ GM Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur seem very confident in the group of wide receivers that they have entering this season. However, fans, the national media, and even oddsmakers believe that the Packers need to give this room a boost.

Enter BetOnline who has Green Bay has the favorites to land Antonio Brown this season. That’s right, they have the Green Bay Packers at 2/1 odds as the favorites to sign Antonio Brown. Behind Green Bay is Seattle at 5/2, Tampa Bay at 3/1, and Baltimore at 4/1.

The last year and a half or so for Brown has been a roller coaster ride, and that is putting it mildly. After forcing his way out of Pittsburgh and nixing a trade to Buffalo, Brown ended up in Oakland. From there, his feet were frostbitten after a cryotherapy session went wrong, and then he threatened to sit out because he had to use a different helmet than what he was used to.

Eventually, Brown was released and picked up by New England where he appeared in one game and even hauled in a touchdown reception. However, he was then cut and more off the field issues ensued.

Brown is now eligible to sign with a team, but the NFL has suspended him for the first eight games of the 2020 season.

Prior to all of this taking place, Brown was one of, if not the best receiver in the game. With the Steelers, he had six straight 100 plus catch seasons and at least 10 touchdowns in four of his last five seasons with Pittsburgh. On top of that, he averaged 13.4 yards per catch over his career with at least 1,400 receiving yards every season since 2011.

At his best, Brown was an exceptional talent, but as of now, those days appear to be behind him. The erratic behavior that has followed is just not something that Gutekunst will want to bring into such a great locker room environment that was established in 2019 with help of Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith.

While yes, the Packers do have question marks surrounding the receiver position this season, Antonio Brown isn’t the answer. BetOnline may have Green Bay as the favorite to land Brown, but I give it a 0 percent chance of happening.
