Green Bay Packers Sign Rookies Love & Dillon
By Paul Bretl
Earlier today, the Green Bay Packers would officially sign first and second-round picks, Jordan Love and A.J. Dillon.
After signing a few of their later round selections earlier this offseason, today, the Green Bay Packers finalize deals for their first and second-round picks, Jordan Love and A.J. Dillon.
Dillon was the first of the two to sign, and while we don’t know the exact details of the contract just yet, it will, of course, be a four-year deal.

The selection of Dillon in Round 2 was a bit head-scratching initially, especially given how the running back position has been devalued in recent years. But with both Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams in the final year of their rookie deals, the Packers are simply planning for the future.
Not to mention that they are getting a very explosive runner with Dillon as well. Over his career at Boston College, Dillon would average 5.2 yards per carry, and during his final two seasons, he would rush for over 1,500 yards in each of them.
At 247 pounds, he’s well versed in breaking tackles, but Dillon also has the athleticism and speed to break away from defenders as well. As reliable of an all-around back as Jamaal Williams is, Dillon can give the Packers some added big-play ability alongside Jones.
Then just a few hours after Dillon signed, it would be announced that the Green Bay Packers had also signed quarterback Jordan Love.

Coming out of Utah State, Love had an excellent 2018 season tossing 32 touchdowns to only six interceptions for 3,567 yards. Unfortunately, he took a step backwards in 2019.
Now, some of this can be attributed to all of the roster turnover and the new coaching staff, but Love is at fault as well. Interceptions were a major issue, his completion percentage dipped, and overall he needs to improve his decision making.
With all of that said, it doesn’t take watching much Jordan Love film to see why the Packers traded up for him. He’s mobile, has a big arm, and he can make just about any throw on the field.
As far as Love’s contract goes, it’s a four-year deal worth $12,383,470 that comes with a fifth-year option, and according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, it is fully guaranteed. This is the first time a rookie deal for the 26th overall pick has been guaranteed.
With Love and Dillon now signed, third-round pick Josiah Deguara, fifth-rounder Kamal Martin, and sixth-round selection Jake Hanson are the only 2020 draft picks who remain unsigned.
