New mock drafts have been released, so let’s take a look at who the draft analysts have the Milwaukee Bucks selecting in version 2.0 of our ‘Mock Draft Roundup.’

In what has been an incredibly unusual 2020 year – both in regards to sports and our day to day lives – the NBA is set to resume the 2019-2020 season at the end of July and the draft is set to take place on October 16th as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

For a small-market team like the Milwaukee Bucks that isn’t going to be a free agent destination for most superstars, having success in the first round of the draft is a must. However, over the last 10 years or so, outside of Giannis Antetokounmpo of course, they haven’t had much luck.

But perhaps now more than ever, it is vital that they do.

For one, if they hope to keep Giannis around as long as possible, winning will play a big part in making that happen. So naturally, you have to draft good players. Duh.

On top of that, the Milwaukee Bucks have several key free agents this offseason. This group of players includes Pat Connaughton, Marvin Williams, Kyle Korver, and Sterling Brown is a restricted free agent. It’s also worth noting that Robin Lopez and Wes Matthews have player options as well.

Then a Giannis super-max contract coupled with Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, and Eric Bledsoe’s current deals doesn’t exactly leave a ton of cap space to land a high-profile player in free agency.

So for a team that is on the cusp of winning an NBA Championship and one that could be a front-runner in the league for several years to come, taking advantage of their first-round selection in this year’s draft, along with the upcoming years going to be key. Especially with the factors mentioned above in play.

In looking at this year’s draft specifically, the Milwaukee Bucks have the Indiana Pacers’ first-round selection from the Malcolm Brogdon trade which should fall around the 19th pick. And despite the draft still being a few months away, mock drafts have been released left and right recently. So let’s take a look at who the draft analysts have the Bucks selecting in version 2.0 of our ‘Mock Draft Roundup.’

Patrick Williams, SF, Florida State / 6’8″ – 225 pounds

2019-20 stats: 22.5 mpg, 32 3P%, 9.2 ppg, 4.0 rbg, 1.0 apg

"“Patrick Williams is probably more of a long-term investment than an instant-impact rookie considering he’s still only 18 years-old and developing. But the 6-8 forward measures well and was a key piece on a Florida State team that won the Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title. He performed strongly down the stretch while scoring in double-figures in five of the Seminoles’ final seven games. So, again, it’s possible he won’t help an NBA team much next season. But what Williams could become in a year or two is enough to generate attention in the back half of the first round.”"

Kira Lewis, PG, Alabama / 6’3″ – 165 pounds

2019-20 stats: 37.6 mpg, 36.6 3P%, 18.5 ppg, 4.8 rbg, 5.2 apg

Kyle Boone – CBS Sports

Jahmi’us Ramsey, SG, Texas Tech / 6’4″ – 195 pounds

2019-20 stats: 31.2 mpg, 42.6 3P%, 15.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.2 apg

"“Jahmi’us Ramsey is a gifted shooter. And on a Milwaukee team and system whose success is predicated on spacing the floor with shooters around Giannis, he’d be a great fit. As a freshman at Texas Tech he rated in the 91st percentile as a catch and shoot scorer in the halfcourt and should be an equally lethal weapon in that area in the NBA.”"

James Ham – NBC Sports

RJ Hampton, SG, New Zealand Breakers / 6’5″ 190 pounds

2019-20 stats: 30 3P%, 8.8 ppg, 3.8 rbg, 2.4 apg

"“Hampton is one of the wild cards of this draft. A team could fall in love with his potential in the top 10 or he could tumble down boards a bit. His decision to take his talents to Australia might have backfired, but he is a lightning guard with an elite ability to change speed and direction. There is a lot of raw talent to work with here.”"
