While it’s always an uphill battle for any UDFA, these three, in particular, could make a push for a final roster spot with the Green Bay Packers.

Even before the NFL Draft comes to an end, teams are frantically calling on prospects that they hope to sign as undrafted free agents (UDFA) as they attempt to fill out their 90-man rosters. And of course, when it comes to the Green Bay Packers, they are no different.

This year the Packers would end up signing 15 undrafted free agents and while it is easy to consider them just bodies for training camp and the preseason – which many of them are – there also might be that diamond in the rough that not only makes the final roster but contributes at some point in their career as well.

When it comes to the Green Bay Packers, they have several key players over the years who have taken this route. This list includes Ryan Grant, Cullen Jenkins, Sam Shields, Tramon Williams, and most recently Raven Greene.

Like the stock market, past success is not an indicator of future success, so just because former undrafted free agents have carved out successful careers, it does not mean that any from this year’s class will. It is going to be an uphill battle to even make the practice squad, let alone the 53-man roster.

When it comes to making the team for these undrafted free agents, there are two huge factors involved. Of course the first is that they have to perform. And the second is the position that they play.

With Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love at quarterback, any UDFA quarterback just isn’t making the 53-man roster. However, at a position like cornerback where Green Bay is lacking depth, there is certainly a greater possibility of that happening.

As we begin to look ahead, there are three players from this group of UDFAs that given their skill-set as well as their position that could very well make some noise this summer and make a push for the final roster. So as training camp and the preseason unfolds, be sure to keep your eyes locked on these three.
