Green Bay Packers: 5 Question Marks Still Remain After Offseason
By Paul Bretl
Free agency has slowed down and the NFL draft is complete, but there are still a handful of question marks that remain for this Green Bay Packers team.
Although they ended the 2019 season just one game shy of reaching the Super Bowl, after getting blown out at Levi’s Stadium for the second time that season, it was clear that there is still a little ways to go if the Green Bay Packers want to be considered true Super Bowl contenders. And it wasn’t just those two performances, despite finishing the season 13-3, Green Bay rarely dominated any of their games.
So the hope among the Cheeseheads was that the Packers would be able to plug some holes through free agency and the draft that would hopefully put them closer to reaching the Super Bowl.
Unfortunately, that isn’t exactly how things played out.
With limited spending power this offseason, the Green Bay Packers weren’t able to make those flashy free-agent signings. Instead, they had to settle for a few short-term contracts on players who are coming off of down seasons.
And then in the draft, Green Bay would catch everyone by surprise with their early-round selections and the fact that with nine draft picks, they didn’t come away with a single receiver.
Now their roster is full with 90 players and while they still could make a late addition via free agency – as long as they make a cut – for the most part, this Packers team is set for the 2020 season. However, many of the question marks surrounding this team back in January still remain today.
