Green Bay Packers: Final Round 1 Predictions for 2020 NFL Draft
By Paul Bretl
There is a lot of uncertainty when it comes to who the Green Bay Packers will select in Round 1, but here are 3 predictions for how things will turn out.
The first round of the 2020 NFL Draft is almost here and when it comes to who the Green Bay Packers are going to pick, well, nobody really knows.
This is a deep draft class at a number of positions, the Packers also have several needs that they could choose to address early on, and to top it all of, GM Brian Gutekunst is an absolute wildcard in the draft. Even in my most recent Mock Draft Roundup, Green Bay’s selections at 30th overall are really all over the place.
So while it won’t be easy, a few of us here at Dairyland Express give our predictions for the opening round. Let’s see if any of us get close.
Jacob Westendorf
Jalen Reagor WR – TCU
I think they’ll look into trading up but it is a steep price to go and get “their guy.” And while Justin Jefferson is great, is he worth what it’ll cost to acquire him? I think Gutey will say that it is not. So instead the Packers get an injection of speed with the addition of Jalen Reagor, who provides a skill-set that they’ve desperately needed in their receiving corps since the days of Jordy Nelson’s prime.
Jason Perone
Justin Jefferson WR – LSU / Patrick Queen LB – LSU
This year, pick 30 can still yield a lot of value and net the Green Bay Packers a really good player. It would seem more likely, in a year that is uncertain, that they would want to draft fewer really good players than 10 total. That means a lot of moving around, especially up. In round 1, I see trading up as a very likely scenario for them to go and get “their guy” and if they do, it’s likely to be for an LSU Tiger. Justin Jefferson or Patrick Queen are my top 2 targets for Brian Gutekunst with Green Bay’s first pick.

Brandon Aiyuk WR – Arizona State
By the time the Green Bay Packers are on the clock at 30th overall, I expect the top-5 tackles to be off the board, as well as Justin Jefferson and the top-3 receivers in this class. So I’ll predict that Gutey trades out of round one with a team looking to land that coveted 5th-year team option that comes with a first-round selection.
Early in the second round, Green Bay will then select Brandon Aiyuk, who meets their physical and athletic thresholds and is a player who can give this offense some much-needed juice in the passing game. Not to mention that his ability to pick up yards after the catch will certainly be a welcomed sight in Titletown.
