Trading Back

As I just mentioned in the previous scenario, trading back on most occasions just makes the most sense for the Green Bay Packers. This is a loaded draft at a number of positions and if they can move back and add an extra top-100 pick, well, that’s certainly a hard proposition to pass up.

In this scenario, both Josh Jones and Justin Jefferson were off the board so I thought trading back with the New York Giants was the smart move. I gave them the 30th pick overall and in return, they gave me pick 36 and pick 99.

Round 2, Pick 36: Patrick Queen LB – LSU

Round 2, Pick 62: Brandon Aiyuk WR – Arizona State

Round 3, Pick 94: Jordan Elliott IDL – Missouri

Round 3, Pick 99: Bryce Hall CB – Virginia

Round 4, Pick 136: Jack Driscoll OT – Auburn

Round 5, Pick 175: Quartney Davis WR – Texas A&M

Of course, be sure to vote for your favorite mock draft of the three, but if I were to place a vote, this is the one that I would choose.

  • Given the Green Bay Packers’ need for speed and coverage ability in the middle of their defense, I thought Patrick Queen was the best available option. While I could have chosen a receiver or a defensive tackle, I thought Queen at 36 was the best value.
  • Once again, it was impossible for me to pass on Aiyuk at pick 62.
  • In Round 3 I land Elliott who is athletic, he knows how to get into the backfield and he make plays on the ball. Not to mention that he did all of that against SEC competition.
  • I  then used my additional third-round selection on CB Bryce Hall who prior to the 2019 season beginning was considered by a number of scouts a first-round talent before his injury. In addition to being a good value pick at this point, he played in a diverse coverage scheme at Virginia which I believe will help him in the NFL.
  • After making four picks I still didn’t have my offensive tackle which could certainly be considered a bit risky, but I am happy with landing Driscoll in Round 4.
  • Lastly, Davis is projected as a slot receiver in the NFL and he shows just how deep this draft class is. While he will never be “the guy,” in Round 5 I was still able to land a viable contributor.
