Staying Put at Pick No. 30

Personally, I think trading back makes the most sense for the Green Bay Packers just given the overall depth of this year’s draft class at key positions of need for them. But with that said, there are two players that if available, I would select at pick 30. And they would be Josh Jones and Justin Jefferson. Well it just so happened that in this scenario, Jones was still on the board.

Round 1, Pick 30: Josh Jones OT – Houston

Round 2, Pick 62: Brandon Aiyuk WR – Arizona State

Round 3, Pick 94: Kyle Dugger S – Lenoir Rhyne

Round 4, Pick 136: Antonio Gibson WR/RB – Memphis

Round 5, Pick 175: Larrell Murchison IDL – NC State

  • This selection is a bit of a luxury for the Green Bay Packers since I do believe that Jones could start Week 1 if needed but they do have Rick Wagner to rely on. However, considering that Wagner has only played in all 16 games just one time since 2014, Jones could very well be needed at some point in 2020. I see him as the fifth-best tackle in this class and like Bartch in the last scenario, being able to learn and develop for a year should really help his game.
  • Then in Round 2, I get one of my favorite receivers. Brandon Aiyuk is a YAC monster and he would certainly give this Packers’ offense an element that they just didn’t have in 2019.
  • The Dugger selection may seem like a bit of a head-scratcher to some given that Green Bay already has Darnell Savage and Adrian Amos, but I thought landing him in Round 3 was a tremendous value pick. Dugger is a superb athlete and considering how often the Packers play with three safeties on the field under Mike Pettine, he would certainly find some playing time.
  • I once again land Gibson and Murchison in Rounds 4 and 5. I just really like what Gibson can bring to this offense and I think finding Clark some help inside with a high upside player such as Murchison is well worth the selection at this point.
