9. Ben Sheets
We really begin to get into the nitty-gritty here, as Ben Sheets kicks us off at No. 9. Sheets quintessential player in franchise history. Despite a career marred by injuries (including bulging discs in his lower back, inner ear infections that led to dizziness, shoulder tendiitis and a strained hamstring, among others), he continued to battle back time and time again.
In an all-time Brewers’ performance, Sheets struck out 18 batters in 2004 against the Atlanta Braves. That surpassed the previous franchise-best of 14 and still stands today. For a while, he was known as Milwaukee’s Strikeout King, postin 1206 throughout his time in Milwaukee.
He made four All-Star teams including in his rookie season back in 2001. He also received a few Cy Young votes in 2004 when he posted a 2.70 ERA despite just a 12-14 record. His 3.72 franchise ERA also ranks sixth in Brewers’ history.
