Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears: 5 Matchups to Watch
4. Packers Corners vs Bears Receivers
On paper, the Green Bay Packers have a ton of cornerback talent. Jaire Alexander looked like a budding superstar last season with his aggressive play and athleticism. For Kevin King, the only thing that has slowed him down through two seasons has been injuries. Behind those two, you have a stable of young guys with a lot of optimism and the veteran Tramon Williams that remains a consistent presence in the defensive backfield.
On the other side, the Bears receivers have a good group. Allen Robinson is now two years removed from his torn ACL with better chemistry between him and quarterback Mitch Trubisky. Second-year receiver Anthony Miller should take on a bigger role this season especially now that he’s healthy from his late-season shoulder injury. In the three spot, you have Taylor Gabriel who is a chess piece that can cause a lot of problems.
Alexander will likely shadow Robinson. He did that late last season against the opposing team’s best receivers with a mixed amount of success. He was the 30th overall corner last season, and he has big plans to improve on that ranking this year. Nagy is an offensive wonder from the Andy Reid coaching tree, and he’ll be looking to scheme receivers open constantly. If he wins that battle, the Bears could put up some serious points.
