Tight End (4)

Jimmy Graham, Marcedes Lewis, Robert Tonyan & Jace Sternberger

This is probably the least-surprising group thus far. Unless the Green Bay Packers decide to make a surprise cut of Jimmy Graham, these will be the group they go into the season with. Graham and Marcedes Lewis will be the two starters. After a disappointing season last year, Graham will hopefully see an improvement in an offense that revolves around the tight end position more. Lewis was hardly used last year in his role as a blocker. That should change in a big way this year.

Robert Tonyan has been one of the stars of camp for Green Bay. At 6’5″ and 240 pounds, Tonyan ran an impressive 4.58 40-yard dash during the predraft process, and he flashed some athleticism last year during his brief bits of playing time. This year, he should see an expanded role, and he gives Rodgers a great check down option when he’s in the game. He has soft hands, and he’s a good blocker. He’s exactly what you’re looking for in a modern tight end.

Jace Sternberger gets the final spot at the tight end position. The third-round draft pick has had a quiet preseason, and he likely won’t do much during his rookie season buried so deeply on the depth chart. Now, if Graham were to get injured, which is possible as he’s been battled injuries every year of his career, Sternberger would be the primary beneficiary.
