Allen Lazard

Lazard was an undrafted rookie in 2018 that the Green Bay Packers plucked off of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad towards the end of last season. While we knew the wide receiver competition would be intense, I can’t imagine many thought Lazard would be one of the players in the mix.

While Camp started off a bit slow for Lazard he has really come on strong in recent weeks. Through the two preseason games, he has four receptions for 90 yards – which leads the team – and a touchdown. But it isn’ just in the preseason games that he’s shown up, Lazard has caught the attention of Aaron Rodgers in practice.

Rodgers has pointed out how Lazard has stood out to him on the film at times and praised him for his reliability, which we all know is absolutely crucial to gaining the trust of Rodgers.

While it sounds simple, Lazard’s ability to be in the right place, have reliable hands, and of course, the way he is able to create yards after the catch is what has led to a successful preseason up to this point.

If he can continue to be a solid contributor on special teams and keep making those splash plays in the passing game, it is going to be really difficult to keep Lazard off of the final 53-man roster.
