4. Thon Maker

Thon Maker somewhat surprisingly tops Bledsoe on this list. However, there are a number of good reasons for it.

More from Milwaukee Bucks

The first is Maker’s potential fit in a league that values outside shooters. Especially seven-footers who can knock down the three-ball. Even though Maker only averaged 29.8 percent from downtown in 2017-18, the potential is there for him to get back to the 37.8 percent he connected on in his rookie year.

That potential is the second reason he’s ahead of Bledsoe on this list. At this point in Bledsoe’s career, the NBA knows what he is; a competent player who’s somewhat limited due to his lack of engagement in certain aspects of the game. Maker is a different story. The league is still trying to figure him out and there’s a certain path that could see him becoming a fringe All-Star some day. That’s intriguing in and of itself.

The final reason is due to Maker’s contract. Where Bledsoe is a pending free agent, Maker has two years left on his current deal. And it’s his rookie contract at that. Rookie contracts are the most valuable in the NBA and another reason a team could take a cheap two year chance on Maker.
