Wisconsin Football: Ranking their opponents for the 2018 season Part 1
8. Western Kentucky Hilltoppers
The good ol’ Western Kentucky Hilltoppers will be the Badgers first victim to kick off the season when they play each other on Aug 31 at Camp Randall.
Head coach Mike Sanford returns for his second season after going 6-7 in his inaugural campaign. The Hilltoppers should be right around .500 again in 2018.
Western Kentucky won Conference USA in 2016, but experiences a ton of injuries last season. They lost five of their final six games. However, the number of injuries and young guys who were forced to step up should lead to an accelerated timeline and growth. Lucky Jackson is the name to know as he’s their stud receiver. The Badgers will want to concentrate on him and shut him down.
Defensively, their secondary is very experienced and talented. Unfortunately, they lack the necessary players in their front seven. This should result in the Badgers pushing them around and doing whatever they want with them. Look for Wisconsin to roll to victory to begin the season.
