The NBA Draft is about three weeks away and the Milwaukee Bucks are knee-deep in preparing. Here are the thoughts from three Dairyland Express writers.

The second edition of Dairyland ExpressMilwaukee Bucks‘ roundtable is here. With the 2018 NBA Draft fast approaching, three writers weigh in on what to expect from the Bucks this draft season.

1. With three weeks remaining until the draft, what do you expect the Bucks to do with their 17th overall pick?

Gage Bridgford (@GBridgfordNFL): I expect the Bucks to explore the possibility of a salary dump with the pick attached in an effort to bring in an immediate contributor at a discount to give them more financial flexibility. However, with the majority of teams in the NBA strapped for cash and looking to dump, they will struggle to find trade partners. Ultimately, the team will wind up keeping their pick unless a trade presents itself that allows them to add picks in the draft, while also saving them money in the process.

Brian Sampson (@BrianSampsonNBA): They will likely explore many opportunities with their pick including trading it as a cash dump, trading it for an established veteran, etc, etc. However, due to a lack of a better option, they’ll end up keeping the pick and making the selection. There are still a few quality players projected to be around at No. 17, so the Bucks should be able to get a guy who can potentially contribute down the road, if not right away.

Anthony Haag (@Anthony_Haag): The Bucks have missed on their last three first-round selections of D.J. Wilson, Thon Maker, and Rashad Vaughn. Granted, Maker is still developing and there is still hope for him as he is only 21 years old. However, general manager Jon Horst needs to get this pick absolutely correct. Whether he trades it or keeps it, the player needs to make an impact this season.

Horst will do everything in his power to package the pick with a player in a trade. Finding a team to trade a bad contract and the 17th pick with will be the challenge. For the Bucks to improve they are going to need to trade the pick for a player who is established and can help the team right away.
