Packers, Badgers rule NFL’s Top 100 players list

NFL Network completed its reveal of its annual NFL Top 100 Players list Wednesday night, with the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers represented at the very top of the list.
Eleven of the players on the list have direct ties to either the Packers, Badgers or the state of Wisconsin—an impressive haul for a state ranked 20th in the U.S. in population, according to the latest U.S. Census report.

Of those 11, six are currently with the Packers, four played at the University of Wisconsin and one was a prep football standout in the state.
This is the fifth year the network has released the list, with quarterback Aaron Rodgers topping the NFL Top 100 rankings in 2012.

Other players to land at No. 1 in the NFL Top 100 rankings were New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (2011), Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson (2013) and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning (2014).

2011: QB Aaron Rodgers (11), CB Charles Woodson (16), LB Clay Matthews (19), WR Greg Jennings (74), DT B.J. Raji (81), S Nick Collins (96), OT Chad Clifton (99).
2012: Rodgers (1), Matthews (27), Woodson (36), Jennings (56), WR Jordy Nelson (80), FB John Kuhn (92).
2013: Rodgers (6), Matthews (31), Woodson (85—signed with Oakland Raiders).
2014: Rodgers (11), Matthews (77), Nelson (83), RB Eddie Lacy (90).
The rankings are compiled from an offseason poll of NFL players.
