The Green Bay Packers are understandably high on Matthew Golden, as evidenced by the offseason decisions to part ways with Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks. Golden's ability as a route runner and speed that allows him to create open space are unquestionably going to be a huge part of the Green Bay offense and, if healthy, allow the unit to have a great chance to be among the league's elite units.
Jordan Love clearly shares this sentiment as well, offering an update via The Athletic's Matt Schneidman.

Love doesn't offer anything groundbreaking or outside the box, but is simply taking a moment to praise a great camp performance for a pass catcher expected to take a huge leap. Golden finished the 2025 season with 361 receiving yards and zero regular season touchdowns clearly being limited due to the talent stacked in front of him. However, it was telling that Golden saved his best moments for when the stage was at its biggest in Green Bay's lone playoff game.
The pass catcher finished with 84 receiving yards and a touchdown on four grabs, clearly having the trust of Love. While Doubs finished that game as the leading receiver, Golden was in second making it clear that Love's comment heading towards this season isn't just building up a young player, but founded in real trust.

It is fair to expect Christian Watson and Tucker Kraft to be the team's primary targets based on the experience and chemistry with Love. Still, there is plenty of room for Golden based on the matchups the receiver will invite as well as an injury history for Watson that suggests time will be missed at some point in the 2026 season.
Finishing with an 1,000 yard season is very much on the table for the receiver understanding how Love elevates those around him in LaFleur's strong offensive system. A breakout season should be the expectation, not based simply on this one quote, but the offseason moves and a consistently strong camp.
This is the season fans will see why the franchise was so confident taking Golden high in the 2025 NFL Draft. A pick that is unquestionably going to age well based on a talent that is getting ready for a breakout season.
