The Green Bay Packers have spent much of the offseason and training camp listening to ongoing hype around the Chicago Bears and Caleb Williams. While the division title run last season is undeniable, it has felt a bit like recency bias, as Jordan Love has a better resume and has accomplished far more. With this in mind, Packer fans are welcoming every chance to credit the accomplishments of Love and point out just what the veteran quarterback means to the organization.
Star receiver Christian Watson added to this fire this past week when interviewed by NFL Network. Watson was speaking about what makes Love so special noting, "The confidence he has in himself brings all of us up with him." Watson is pointing out what Packer fans already know, and that is the fact that the signal caller elevates those around him.
It is why Matt LaFleur's offense has flowed well despite having consistent injuries at the receiver position. Love is able to play at a high level with any pass catchers who are close to capable, trusting his ability to anticipate and put the ball in a spot where only his playmakers are going to have a chance to make the play.
Watson building up Love ahead of the 2026 season doesn't come as a surprise as the pass catcher is widely expected to take the leap as Green Bay's primary weapon at the position. While both Matthew Golden and Jayden Reed will play key roles as well, a consistent theme throughout camp has been the incredible chemistry between Love and Watson.
Christian Watson Points Out Underrated Jordan Love Trait Ahead of 2026 Season
A big piece of this is exactly what the receiver pointed out: Love's ability to elevate those around him. It only fuels the belief of Packer fans that their quarterback is poised for a big season and is getting ready to take another leap forward. Having a more focused group of weapons, with Golden, Tucker Kraft, and Watson expected to be the primary weapons for a franchise that has had a wealth of targets during Love's tenure.
While depth is always a positive, there is reason to wonder if Love's ability to elevate those around him will be even more pronounced with a more definitive focus on this trio of weapons. Regardless of the answer, there is no denying the mounting expectations around the season ahead.
Chicago might be the team expected to have the division's best quarterback, but Watson isn't hesitating to offer what Packer fans already know defending a quarterback preparing for what could prove to be an MVP campaign.
