The Brew Crew get a power-hitting first baseman and some promising starting pitching prospects.

The Brewers need to find a long-term solution at first base. Mountcastle might be the answer.

Ryan can hit home runs as he has smacked 78 home runs in four seasons. He hit a career-high 33 home runs in 2021. He also has a career .457 slugging percentage.

He finished with a wRC+ of 114 last season and was a 1.7 fWAR player.

The downside is he was plagued by ailments and injuries in 2023 that saw him only produce 14 home runs and play in just 115 games. He still had a .452 slugging percentage and was a nine-fWAR offensive player.

He is not set to be a free agent until 2027. He is projected to get around $3.6 million in his first year of arbitration.

The Orioles might be motivated to move him since they can get good production out of O’Hearn or open a spot for Kjerstad or their other top-five prospect Coby Mayo (we will address him shortly).

In this package, the Crew goes with immediate position help and then two pitching prospects that are close to starting at the big-league level.

Povich is a lefty with high grades on his pitches.

He is Baltimore’s second-best pitching prospect and 11th overall. He had a high ERA at Triple-A but pitched well in his last five outings.

Armbruester has a good fastball that can hit as high as 97mph. He had 66 strikeouts in 14 outings at Triple-A. He finished with a 3.56 ERA between his time at Double-A and Triple-A ball in 2023. He might need some more starts at Triple-A as he posted a 4.70 ERA, but he has the stuff to be a solid starting pitcher.
