Bucks Who Need to Step Up: Pat Connaughton

It’s been a rough year-plus for Pat Connaughton, who has seen his three-point shot completely disappear since the 2022-23 season. After shooting at least 37 percent from distance the previous two years, he’s only made 33.3 percent of his threes since the start of last season, including 27.6 percent this year.

That slump has leaked into other areas of his game where he hasn’t been nearly effective. Typically a good rebounder for his position, he’s having one of the worst glass-crashing seasons of his career on both ends of the court.

He’s also a position-less defender. That’s typically used as a positive, but has a negative connotation when describing Connaughton. He’s not quick enough to stick with wings on the perimeter nor strong enough to battle with them close to the hoop. This leaves him in purgatory, often leading to a negative result for the Bucks.
