The Milwaukee Brewers already lost manager Craig Counsell to the Chicago Cubs, and that could just be the start of a roster overhaul this season. According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, the Brewers are listening to trades on just about anyone.

Rosenthal says Milwaukee is “open to moving virtually any player on its roster.” That’s a massive shift from last season and could have long-lasting effects on the Brewers.

The front office is notorious for wanting as many “bites at the apple” as possible to get into the playoffs. Going into sell mode would be getting rid of the apple entirely. It will undoubtedly draw the ire of the fans, especially with an ownership group that’s already perceived as being too passive with their money.

However, it might be the best long-term strategy. With several players on the brink of free agency, let’s check out four players the Brewers could trade away.

Keep a close eye on these four players the Milwaukee Brewers could trade away during the 2023-24 MLB offseason.

Players Brewers Could Trade Away: Brandon Woodruff

This would be a complicated deal, as Brandon Woodruff will miss the 2024 season with an injury. He’s then set to be a free agent next offseason. His trade value is extremely low as a result, but could bring something back to Milwaukee. A team that wants to get a head start in contract negotiations with him may strike a deal for a minor price.

Players Brewers Could Trade Away: Willy Adames

Willy Adames also has a complex trade value. On one hand, he’s an elite defender at shortstop who pairs great range with a great arm. On the other, he’s an offensive liability and hasn’t lived up to his potential at the plate (although, he does hit bombs). The lack of a free agent class at shortstop helps the Brewers here, as they could leverage that to get a strong return.

Players Brewers Could Trade Away: Devin Williams

Devin Williams still has two years of team control remaining. However, if Milwaukee takes the Josh Hader approach, that means they would trade him at the upcoming trade deadline anyway. If they are trading the other guys and want to maximize his return, they might as well move him this offseason as well.

Players Brewers Could Trade Away: Corbin Burnes

Corbin Burnes is the biggest trade chip they have. He would bring them a haul of prospects. He’s better than any free agent pitcher available and would likely be the best pitcher available via trade as well. He’s coming off another dominant season and is in the prime of his career. Milwaukee could leverage that to get the package they want.
