Packers Pleasant Surprises: Dontayvion Wicks

Packers fans weren’t sure what to expect from rookie wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks when the season started. He missed most of the offseason, training camp and preseason with various injuries. Besides, there were many more exciting names to watch, such as Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed and Musgrave.

However, Wicks could end up being the best of them all. His stats are modest–14 receptions for 189 yards and one touchdown in eight games. His flashes are large. He’s made some plays this season that have turned heads, and wonder what he can do when he puts it all together.

We’ve also seen the Packers dial up some trick plays and schemes specifically for him. That indicates they want to get him the ball and see something special in him. Wicks has shown the ability to separate quickly, and is coming off the most receiving yards in a game of his career. He could be in for a second-half breakout.
