The Green Bay Packers have a big Week 9 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Both teams are trying to develop for the future, and Green Bay needs to begin getting an accurate assessment of what they have in Jordan Love and the other young players on the roster.

At 2-5, the Packers would hold a top-ten pick if the season ended today. They’re trying to snap a four-game losing streak and have a golden opportunity to do so. The Rams have lost two straight games and are 3-5 without starting quarterback Matthew Stafford and top running back Kyren Williams.

That doesn’t mean the game will come easy for Green Bay. The Packers have struggled to put together a consistent game all season. They’ve rarely scored in the first half, often falling behind double digits by halftime. If the Packers are going to avoid making these mistakes again and finally turn around their fortunes, these three players will be in the spotlight and need to step up.

Keep your eye on these three players on the Green Bay Packers who are in the spotlight in Week 9 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Carrington Valentine

The Packers traded Rasul Douglas this week and are turning to the rookie corner to start in his absence. Valentine had a strong showing this preseason, but has struggled when he received playing time during the regular season. The Rams will target him early and often to exploit the biggest weakness on the Packers’ defense. Will he be ready to step up?

Interior Offensive Line

I cheated with these next two and included multiple players in each of them. Aaron Donald is one of the best interior defensive linemen the NFL has ever seen. He can single-handedly turn a game in his team’s favor and has the potential to do so against a weak Packers’ offensive line.

Elgton Jenkins hasn’t played up to his expectations this season. Despite the coaching staff saying Josh Myers is having a strong season, the film shows otherwise. And Jon Runyan has been inconsistent all year. This group has to step up in all phases or risk getting their running back and quarterback killed.

Jordan Love/Christian Watson

The Packers desperately need their best players to play well. Love has been trending down and hasn’t been able to put together a strong game from start to finish. Green Bay will need that consistent performance if they want to snap their month-plus losing streak.

He can’t do it alone. Christian Watson hasn’t provided much of a spark since his early-season return from an injury. He had one big play against the Raiders on a blown coverage, but hasn’t taken advantage of his other opportunities. Watson must step up and prove last year’s hot streak wasn’t a fluke.
